Sweet Rice

From the Kitchen of Cierra Danielle Kinston

Ingredients

  • 2 liters milk
  • 1/2 cup basmati rice
  • 1/4 cup sugar To taste
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch Saffron threads

Instructions

1. Heat the Milk

  • Pour those 2 liters of milk into a big ol’ pot and heat it on medium. Let it warm up for about 12 minutes. Make sure you don’t let it boil over unless you want a huge mess on your hands. (Been there, done that.)

2. Add the Rice

  • After the milk has heated, throw in the basmati rice. Let it simmer on low heat while you stir it every now and then. It’s gonna get all creamy and delicious. Be patient, sisterfrennns, this rice needs some time to work its magic.

3. Sweeten It Up

  • Once your rice is looking good and the milk has thickened (this takes about an hour, so grab yourself a snack), stir in the sugar. Mmmm, the sweetness is gonna start coming through now.

4. Flavor Bomb Time

  • Add in your saffron threads for that golden color and some mood-boosting vibes. (Yes, saffron is fancy but also calming!) Then stir in your vanilla extract for that extra cozy flavor.

5. Serve & Enjoy

  • That’s it! You can serve this sweet rice warm if you’re looking for something cozy, or chill it in the fridge if you like a cold treat. And the best part? It freezes SO well. Make a big batch, portion it out, and enjoy it whenever the craving hits.

Notes

you can use maple syrup as an alternative to sugar.
